AbstrakIn the context of engagement, Indonesia has different practices because Indonesia is a country whose population adheres to a diversity of religions, ethnic cultures and customs. Consequently, it affects the existing teachings of Islamic law, one of which is traditional lako engagement of the bride and groom. Custom is something that has been recognized by the community that has become a habit among them, whether in the form of words or actions. In the view of Islam, customs are classified into two, namely: customs that contain good values and customs that contain damage and both of these customs often develop in the midst of society. And these two customs often develop in the midst of society, because Indonesia is a country with a majority Muslim population, and has a diversity of customs. Based on the above phenomenon, the purpose of this research is to explain how the practice of customary engagement (lako bride) in Sasak tribe and review the customary practice of lako bride (traditional engagement) in the traditional marriage of the Muslim community of the Sasak tribe according to Sadd Adz-zariah. This research is field research using descriptive qualitative research methods. Besides, this research uses a juridical sociological approach. To complete the research results, the researcher will use observation and interview techniques in collecting data. Hence, there are five stages that will be passed in processing the research data, including: editing, classification, verification, data analysis, and the final stage in this method is the conclusion of the entire research process.
